For Immediate Release:
Recently, after much thought and prayer, I made the decision to begin speaking only about me and my family’s experience with abuse. This week, my story has received media attention, and I want to take a moment to address it here.
First, I want to thank everyone who has reached out to express your support — your kindness and encouragement mean more than I can express. While my past is painful, it dawned on me that this fight is bigger than me, and if I had the opportunity to do some good by talking about it, I should do so. Right now, I’m in a custody battle for my younger brother, a battle that is not just about family, but about justice. I believe he may be my son — a tragic reality of the abuse I endured at the hands of my own mother. I am fighting for his safety, our right to know, and for accountability.
Over the years, as I shared my story privately with others, I have spoken to so many victims who will never come forward. I have learned that far too many male survivors are silenced by shame, disbelief, or broken systems that fail to protect them. Put simply, an epidemic of abuse is compounded by an epidemic of silence. Society still struggles to recognize that men can be victims too, and that must change. The stigma, inaction, and lack of accountability have gone on for too long.
I am speaking out not just for myself, but for my brother — a disabled child who deserves safety, support, and the chance to thrive — and for all male survivors who deserve to be heard, believed, and supported. Changing the narrative will take all of us — survivors, advocates, and supporters — coming together to challenge stigmas and inspire real change.
Now that I have come forward, it is no longer possible for me to return to a life of privacy with regards to this matter. I cannot unwind this clock, and so I must plow ahead. I am committed to continuing this fight, not only by sharing my story but by exploring solutions, advocating for change, and increasing awareness.
If you want to support this cause and the fight for my brother, please consider contributing: gofund.me/480e6c47. Every share, donation, and conversation helps break the silence and push for justice.
To those who stand with me — thank you. To male survivors — you are not alone. And to everyone reading this — awareness starts with us. Let’s change the narrative together.
